A Kundalini yoga class always follows a set structure, although with a vast selection of different kriyas (yoga sets) to choose from, the sequence and type of posture varies with each class. The class always begins by tuning in with the Adi mantra, followed by a pranayam (breath control exercise) or warm up, which leads into the chosen kriya (sequence of postures). This is followed by relaxation and meditation. The class always tunes out with the Sat Nam mantra.
When attending a class
- Avoid eating two hours before practice – light snacks are okay
- Wear loose comfortable clothing – bring a shawl or jumper to keep you warm during meditation or relaxation
- Bring a small bottle of water and drink plenty of water after class
